QRCS HMC team up to support Gaza medical sector


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Office in Gaza has received a delegation from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) during its visit to Gaza to prepare for the inauguration of the Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Limbs in Gaza established by the Qatari National Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The delegation comprised Dr Wafa al-Yazeedi Chairperson of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department Dr Khaled Abdel-Hadi Head of Audiology & Balance Unit and Dr Amer Hawafzeh Prosthetic Limb Supervisor.
During the visit QRCS officials accompanied the delegation to Al-Amal Hospital of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Khan Younis southern Gaza to see the work of its physical rehabilitation department which was supported with medical equipment and consumables by QRCS.
The visitors closely watched the steps of treatment of minor and moderate cases. They talked with several people who were recovering.
They also visited European Gaza Hospital where they were received by Dr Nidal Abo Hadrous head of Neurology Department a graduate of the medical training programme conducted by QRCS and HMC. Also QRCS had supported the hospital with medical equipment.
Dr Abo Hadrous gave the visitors an overview of the department’s achievements since 2008 showing the major challenges faced by his staff such as recurrent power outages and fuel scarcity which delay many surgical operations.
Dr Akram Nassar head of QRCS office in Gaza held talks with the delegation about partnership proposals between QRCS and HMC in Gaza to maximise the outcomes in relation to patient rehabilitation.
