(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Jan 20 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday received at Bayan Palace Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah Board Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah board member of the Kuwait Journalists Association Fatima Hussein Al-Issa and chief editors of local newspapers.During the meeting His Highness the Amir stressed the role of the media particularly at the critical stage and extraordinary conditions the region is going through which prompts unity joining efforts and placing the nation's interests security and stability over and above all other considerations.His Highness the Amir stressed the momentousness of media people realizing their responsibility for handling the issues on the local scene and the means to accomplish the task.Part of this responsibility is that they must not let "whosoever" use media platforms to inflame emotions stir feuds or sectarian tensions. It also involves keeping away from offending any of the components of the society.In the meantime His Highness the Amir referred to the huge falls of oil prices and the ensued decline in the income of oil producing states including Kuwait. This necessitates embarking on economic steps and rationalization programs and reducing the items on the state budget to make up for the fall in the state resources.His Highness the Amir however underlined the importance of maintaining dignified life conditions for citizens as well as providing their basic living needs.Meanwhile His Highness the Amir stressed respect of the judicial authority and rulings.His Highness the Amir lauded the brotherly ties among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states urging further efforts to bolster the bloc's joint march toward integration in all fields to realize people's expectations and achieve prosperity development security and stability.The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Tareq Eid Al-Mizrem.
