Kuwait- Int'l Coalition Defense Ministers against IS meets in Paris


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS Jan 20 (KUNA) -- The Defense Ministers of International Coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) will hold a meeting later Wednesday in Paris to discuss promoting military coordination against IS in Syria and Iraq.French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian will meet with his counterparts in US UK Germany Italy Austria and Australia to evaluate the progress and the effectiveness of the coalition military campaign against IS locations in Syria and Iraq in the past few months French Defence Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.The meeting gathers the most committed countries in this military campaign. It will be a great opportunity to discuss "important measures that might be needed" to accelerate and improve this fight against this militant group especially since there has been a notable retreat from IS militants in both countries.The military coalition against IS launches about 100 airstrikes on a daily basis mostly in Iraq.Iraqi government forces has also been successful in its fight against IS militants in Al-Ramadi city.Upon arrival to Paris last night US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter expected in remarks to the press that the coalition will send more military trainers to "enable Iraqi police to impose security" in their country.Paris meeting will discuss the need to securing safety of air drones logistic matters as well as providing military advisors to aid in the war against IS.
