Oman- Yoga key to healthy and successful life says Jordanian entrepreneur

Yoga is the best way to achieve good health Iman Mutlaq a Jordanian businesswoman and yoga advocate has said.

She was speaking at a session on health benefits of yoga and Ayurvedic cooking held as part of the celebration of International Day of Yoga at the Indian Embassy on Monday.

The session 'Work Life Balance and Health: Distress to De Stress' was held in association with the India-based Art of Living Foundation. The event was held in the presence of H H Sayyid Mohammed bin Salim al Said chief of Protocol Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Obaid al Saeedi Minister of Health. Yoga can help you do away with medicines Iman said.

'I never use medicine. When I wake up in the morning I meditate do my breathing and other exercises. This routine has changed my life.' Now Iman wakes up at 5am every day to dedicate time for herself. 'Before I face the world I give myself what I deserve and maintain the body that god has given me. Our body is like a garden. It's up to us to keep it clean' she said.

Demonstrating breathing techniques of yoga Iman said 'Yoga can help people cope with stress and headaches. It can also help gain inner peace.' Iman said that health is an important aspect of success in life. 'Being successful in career finance and family is not enough. If I am not healthy then I'm not successful' she said.

Iman is the CEO of Jordan-based Sigma Investments and director of the Australian firm Ingot Brokers. She is also the recipient of the New York-based GOD (Global Officials of Dignity) Award's 2015 Middle East Woman of the Year. She was awarded for her contribution to social work. Meanwhile Indian Ambassador to Oman H E Indra Mani Pandey said 'Yoga is an invaluable gift of Indian civilisation to mankind.

'I believe that yoga which is based on the belief that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body can help people all over the world live a healthier and happier life.' H E Pandey also called on yoga associations in Oman to come forward and join hands with the Indian Embassy to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.

'Yoga can help governments across the world reduce their health budgets.' The second International Day of Yoga is on June 21.
