China seeks closer ties with GCC states- Pres Xi


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH Jan 19 (KUNA) -- President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping reaffirmed his country's desire to further enhance cooperation with the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in all fields.During his meeting with GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani on Tuesday the Chinese leader commended the current level of the GCC-China relations in the economic commercial and investment domains.He also lauded the resumption of the GCC-China trade liberalization talks and voiced hope that the process would leader to an even greater cooperation according to a press release by the GCC Secretariat. On his part Dr. Al-Zayani highlighted the importance of the friendly ties between the GCC states and China and lauded China's supportive stances on Arab issues notably the Palestine question.He welcomed China's desire to strengthen the relations with the GCC member states noting that the GCC leaders attach great importance to building a strategic partnership with China.The meeting reviewed the relations in various fields as well as a host of regional and international issues of common interest the statement added.
