3 security officers killed 10 wounded in clashes in Turkey's southeast


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Three security officers have been killed while 10 police officers have been wounded in clashes with the outlawedKurdistan Workers’ Party(PKK) in the southeastern Turkish provinces ofDiyarbakrand rnak.

PKK militants attacked a police shuttle vehicle with a rocket launcher at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 in rnak’s central Yeni Mahalle neighborhood.

Two policemen identified as Alican Öztürk and Mustafa Yaar were killed in the attack while 10 others were wounded and hospitalized at military and state hospitals in rnak.

In a separate attack in Diyarbakr’s Sur district late on Jan. 18 a specialized sergeant was heavily wounded in gunfire opened byPKKmilitants.

The soldier identified as Fazl Altunta was brought toDiyarbakrMilitary Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
