Australian PM Meets US Defense Secretary


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Washington January 19 (QNA) - Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter discussed international security matters principally the fight against ISIS.

Carter and Turnbull discussed recent developments in Iraq and Syria and the need to continue close collaboration on security issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

Carter expressed appreciation for Australia's contributions to the Counter-ISIS coalition as well as Australia's continued support in Afghanistan according to US Department of Defense (USDOD).

The secretary said he looks forward to Australia's participation in this Wednesday's counter-ISIS coalition meeting in Paris USDOD added.Turnbull is scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday. (QNA)
