Kuwaiti amb. discusses cooperation with Canberra Islamic Centre

KUALA LUMPUR Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Australia Najeeb Al-Bader discussed Monday with President of the Executive Committee of Canberra Islamic Centre (CIC) Azra Khan bilateral cooperation to support Islamic institutions in Australia.
Al-Bader told KUNA via the phone that the meeting tackled activities carried out by the center in supporting the moderate and tolerant values of Islam and serving Muslim communities in Australia.
The meeting also discussed the important role played by the center in fighting extremism and terrorism.
For her part Khan praised Kuwait's humanitarian and charitable contributions to support Islam and Muslims all over the world and expressed aspiration to develop cooperation ties with Kuwait.
CIC serves more than 8000 Muslims in Canberra's. It holds cultural events and book fairs. It also provides a wide range of books and publications about Islam and other religions.
CIC is a main center for Muslims in Canberra. It provides a place for prayers and Islamic education as well as providing a venue for hosting cultural events social functions and exhibitions. (end) mam.ss
