Oman- Ministry of Manpower launches e identity service

The Ministry of Manpower launched an awareness campaign on activating the e-authentication services (PKI) for the Ministry's employees in a bid to benefit from the e-services that were activated in 2015. The new service is related to e-nomination of job seekers e-licensing and e-authentication of Omanis' employment contracts.

The service ensures high quality of security accuracy and credibility.

The launching ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al- Bakri Minister of Manpower who pointed out that this facility is considered one of the measures to shift towards e-government and ensure linkage with many organizations especially the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Royal Oman Police Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Muscat Municipality. Work is also underway to be linked with other organizations such as the Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

He also pointed out that the Ministry seeks to achieve 90% of e-transformation by the end of this year.

On his part Eng. Redha bin Ahmed al- Lawati Director of Information Technology and Networks at the Ministry of Manpower said that the number of candidates through the e-system during the period from January 1st to December 30th 2015 stands at 7004 and that the service is available only for holders of post general diploma certificates.

He added that the e-applications through the e-licensing system stood at 24 from the date the service was launched on November 25th 2015 to January 12th 2016.

'The applications received from October 21st 2015 to January 12th 2016 amounted to 106840 by 58762 organizations. The e-payment and upload services have been made active for 334 good performing organizations of which 265 are paying the fees electronically through the e-payment portal without the need to report to the Ministry.
