UAE- How to use Net safely explained at MoI council

A Ministry of Interior (MoI) council has stressed the importance of raising awareness among the different segments of the community about using the Internet in a safe manner.

Participants in the MoI council hosted by Emirati Suhail Shaheen Al Marar at his residence in Khalifa City Abu Dhabi heard that this can only be done by educating the youth in particular about the dangers and negative impact of information technology.

In his address at the council Colonel Dr Jassem Al Antali professor of criminal law at the Police College said the UAE has achieved a quantum leap in the field of information technology.

The council also tackled the positive and negative use of information technology resources calling for intensive and concerted efforts among all entities to raise awareness about using it safely.

Participants warned about information technology abuse such as online fraud and extortion which may constitute a violation of privacy.

The council held under the theme 'Optimal use of e-services at the MoI' is part of a series of awareness councils organised by the MoI's Law Respect Culture Bureau in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The council was moderated by media personality Abdul Rahman Al Shamiri director-general and editor-in-chief of Al Watan newspaper.
