UAE- HAI provides AED 6.5 million for orphans in Palestinian territories

RAMALLAH 17th January 2016 (WAM) -- The Human Appeal International HAI has provided AED6.5 million as the first annual payment for orphans in the Palestinian territories for this year.

Ibrahim Rashid Commissioner of the Authority in the West Bank said that an amount of AED4.887 million was handed over to the Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Adeis for the benefit of the Zakat Central Committees while AED1.622 million was given for the Palestinian charitable organisations.

He also added that the HAI has succeeded in building the biggest social security network for orphans which is part of the HAI's objectives to assist and support the Palestinians.

The Palestinian minister hailed the HAI's keenness to provide care and patronise this large number of orphans saying that this will help them overcome the dire conditions they face after losing their parents.

He also noted that the UAE's charitable organisations have a long history of charity when it comes to providing aid inside the Palestinian territories.
