UAE- Abdullah bin Zayed receives OCHA delegation

ABU DHABI 17th January 2016 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foreign Minister has received a delegation of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA a United Nations body.

The UN delegation was led by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien.

During the meeting the parties reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the UN in the humanitarian and development fields as well as the assistance provided to various countries and peoples to address severe conditions especially those resulting on account of wars and conflicts.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the UAE's keenness to build and enhance partnerships with international organisations concerned with humanitarian and development work and in line with the directives of the wise leadership of the country.

He added that the UAE looks forward to enhancing partnership channels with UN committees and commissions to support international development and humanitarian response and exchange of expertise as well as to support relief efforts in all areas.

On his part O'Brien hailed the UAE's pioneering role in the field of providing support and humanitarian aid to a number of societies and peoples across the world.
