Qatar- Diverse events lined up for winter festival


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) For the third year in a row the Cultural Village Foundation Katara will launch its 2016 edition of the Winter Festival on January 24.
It will continue until January 28 at the Katara esplanade.
This year’s edition draws a significant participation of ministries institutions and private sector entities all set to present a wide range of diverse events including performances theatrical shows and educational workshops.
In this edition of the festival the Childhood Cultural Centre is planning several activities including competitions and games and gifts distribution. Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre is featuring a unique educational theatrical show highlighting the winter season besides numerous entertaining activities. The show is organised with an aim of acquainting the public and children with the Qatari cultural and national identity and Qatar’s flora.
To raise awareness on healthcare during the winter season two health campaigns are set to be launched during the festival. One campaign will be organised by Bin Muftah’s medical centre to raise awareness on common diseases during winter foods to eat during the season and some healthy habits to follow. The other campaign is by Al Rabiee medical centre on skincare during the winter season.
Meanwhile Al Gannas Society is organising information sessions aimed at junior falconers and other sessions for falconry and hunting using saluki dogs. The festival will also feature a variety of events and activities including exhibitions and workshops by Al Galayel competition.
Other activities include birds and animals exhibition by Kanari World pet store performances by various cultural bands assorted activities by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning games at the beachfront organised by Katara a photo exhibition kids workshops painting workshops for adults and a display of handcrafts by Qatar University’s alumni association and an introductory expo by Qatar News Agency.
Katara has always been keen to organise these educational and entertaining festivities in winter with the participation of the private and government sectors in Qatar a statement said. The third edition of winter festival is launched with an aim of attracting the public and children in specific. These festivities are expected to give children a glimpse of Qatari lifestyle during winter.
