Qatar- Katara to launch third edition of Winter Festival on January 24

Doha: For the third year in a row Cultural Village Foundation-Katara will launch its 2016 edition of the Winter Festival.

The festival will start on January 24 and end on January 28 at Katara Esplanade. This year’s edition draws a significant participation of ministries institutions and private sector centres that will hold a wide range of diverse events including performances theatrical shows and educational workshops.

The Childhood Cultural Centre is planning children’s activities including competitions and games with gifts.

Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre is taking part with a unique educational theatrical show to highlight the winter season in addition to other entertaining activities to acquaint the public especially children with the Qatari cultural and national identity and flora.

To raise awareness about healthcare during the winter season two campaigns will be held this year. One will be organised by Bin Muftah’s Medical Centre to raise visitors’ awareness about common winter diseases food to eat during the season and healthy habits to follow. The other will be held by Al Rabiee Medical Centre to raise awareness about skincare during the winter season.

Al Gannas Society is organising information sessions for junior falconers and other sessions on falconry and hunting using salouki dogs.

The festival will also feature events and activities including exhibitions and workshops under Al Galayel competition.

A birds and animals exhibition by Kanari World pet store performances by cultural bands activities organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning games at the beach front organised by Katara a photo exhibition kids workshops painting workshops for adults a display of handicrafts by Qatar University’s alumni association and an introductory expo by Qatar News Agency are among other programmes.

Cultural Village Foundation-Katara has always been keen to organise educational and entertaining activities with the participation of the private and government sectors. The third edition of the festival aims to attract the public especially children and provide them with a glimpse on Qatari lifestyle during winter.
