(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco officiallylaunched a new system calledL'Assurance Maladie Obligatoire(AMO-E)for 288000 students starting school year 2015-2016.
The newhealthcare system was announced yesterday by El Hossein El Ouardi the Minister of Health during a meeting held at the headquarters of the National Commission for Doctors in Rabat with the presence of Abdelilah Benkirane Head of Government and other Ministers. The Health Minister introduced measures to engage higher education and vocational training institutions and eligible students as well as other procedures regarding compensation and costs of healthcare services under the law (12-116) specialized for health insurance for students. Caisse Nationale des Organismes de Prevoyance Socialethe National Fund for Social Reserve Systems (CNOPS)will be in charge of managing the AMO-E under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Health Insurance and with the contribution of The National Office of Academic Social and Cultural Work and L’Office de la Formation Professionnelle et de la Promotion du Travail (OFPPT). Minister El Ouardisaid that the Moroccan government would annually contribute for students in higher education and vocational training while students at private institutions will pay an annual contribution of MAD 400. El Ouardi said the initiative is “a national achievement and a historic gain for students which will inevitably improve their conditions. It will also relieve the burden related to their health and their medical spending put on their shoulders and on their families. This will facilitate their study and achievement under sound conditions.” Both Moroccan and foreign students will receive the same coverage and treatment. Medical coverage will include medical consultations treatments hospitalization surgical procedures x-ray diagnosis and dental treatment. According to the Minister students will also be partially compensated for their medical expenses ranging from 70 percent for medicine 100 percent for chronic diseases as well as other benefits. Support will also be put into place ranging from 90 percent for hospitalization in the private sector and 100 percent of hospitalization in the public sector dialysis sessions and treatment of cancer. The meeting was held in coordination with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training and in partnership with the National Agency for Health Insurance and the National Fund for Social Reserve Systems (CNOPS). The event was also an occasion to introduce three websites to simplify registration and information inquiry. The first website is devoted to register students in higher education in the public and private sectors (cme.enssup.gov.ma). The second is devoted to the students of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion Office (www.inscription-ofppt.ma). The third website is devoted to students of vocational training in the private sector and Vocational Training of the ministerial sectors (cme.anam.ma).
