QRCS celebrates Gulf Child Day

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) participated in the ceremony held yesterday by the Audio Education Complex in co-operation with Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing (QISH) in celebration of the Gulf Child Day, marked every year on 15 January by GCC countries.

The celebration was attended by several QRCS officials, including Communications Director Hamad al-Fayyad, Head of Public Relations Ibrahim al-Ajlan and Head of Human Resources Issa al-Ishaq, as well as several volunteers and social advisers from the Social Development Department.

In his opening speech, al-Ajlan said, "On the occasion of Gulf Child Day, QRCS shares with you the care for these dear children, inspired by the national development strategy that pursues the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. We seek to improve the life of everyone here in Qatar, through ambitious programmes to ensure sustainable economic prosperity, social development, and human rights protection of all nationals and non-nationals of all walks of life."

Since its establishment in 1978, al-Ajlan added, QRCS has been working to create channels of communication with all segments of society to deliver services in the best interest of local society, under the principles of solidarity and compassion.

"Firm belief in its noble mission is what inspires QRCS to move forward and close the gap between generations. Some time ago, our ancestors were here. Today, we are at the same place. And soon, our children will have their turn to stand out," he concluded.
Fun-filled competitions were held to put a smile on the faces of the 50 children from the Audio Education Complex and QISH who attended the celebration.
In the same vein, a workshop will be held today at QRCS Women's Branch for housewives of the Qatari society, under the title "Originality, Roots, and Citizenship."
