Former national team player Ali Hameed claimed the top honours in the 2016 Arjun Raha Memorial Cup which was played at Ghala Golf Club recently. A total of 95 players took part in the shotgun start strokeplay event.
With the organising committee deciding to declare a winner above 50 years of age it was Ali Hameed who took the top prize with a gross score of 79. Sumant Sunder finished with 80 to come second while Mohammed al Wahaibi was third with 81. In the nett division Pawan Singh with 68 took the top spot and was followed by Khalil al Wahaibi who beat James Bleasdale on countback with 70 nett. In the women's division Helen Robertson won the best nett with a score of 68 and Sanjoli Singh won best gross with a score of 83. The prizes for nearest to pin were won by Raymond Cruickshank and Sanjoli respectively while the straightest drive award was won by Jamshed Soonawalla.

Later Rupa Raha and Brian Ritchie of Muna Noor International gave away the prizes. Sachin Bawa Ghala Golf Club's director said 'It's fantastic to see all the support shown towards Arjun Raha he was a very popular golfer and is greatly missed.' Raha was an avid golfer and a member of Ghala Golf Club for over 20 years. ______ Muscat CT trounces Sinha by ten wickets Muscat CT trounced Sinha by ten wickets in the first floodlit T20 cricket match at the Ministry of Sports Affairs ground in Amerat on Sunday. Batting first Sinha was bowled out for paltry 81 in 19.4 overs. Munis Ansari Ganesh and Ashish claimed two wickets each. In reply Muscat openers Aman Sharma (47 not out) and Aaqib Ilyas (26 not out) achieved victory in 8.5 overs to claim a bonus point.
