The Board of Directors (BoD) of Indian Schools in Oman at its recent board meeting has decided to introduce common textbooks in all community schools.

A meeting of principals of community schools in the capital area was called in December and strategies to implement the decision from the next academic year were chalked out a press release stated. The schools that have books in stock will be geared up with the common text book policy after the next academic year.

Accordingly these schools will only be able to carry out partial implementation of the policy in the forthcoming academic year. The decision of the board will be a boon to parents of children who will be transferred from one school to another due to change of jobs or residence.

Common textbook policy will also call for common pricing of books the release added. The board's decision to streamline the prices will benefit parents who used to pay different prices for different publications.

'The board's decision to make textbooks uniform in all schools has been a long awaited necessity. The decision has been communicated to all the Indian schools in Oman and is in the process of implementation' said Wilson George chairman BoD Indian schools in Oman.
