Turkey detains nine ISIL members including three Russians


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkey has detained nine members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) including threeRussiancitizens inAntalyaand zmir just a day after a bomb attack in Istanbul by the jihadist organization killed 11 and injured 15.

Police launched an operation in the southern province ofAntalyawhere it seized large numbers of organizational documents and detained threeRussiancitizens suspected of ISIL membership.

TheRussianconsulate also confirmed threeRussiancitizens were detained in connection to ISIL Reuters reported quotingRussiannews agency RIA.

Meanwhile police launched simultaneous operations on six addresses in the Aegean province of zmir at dawn on Jan. 13.

Six suspects believed to have recruited militants for ISIL were detained in the operation.

According to reports police seized documents shotguns and air guns in the operation.

The detentions come just a day after an ISIL suicide bomber killed 10 foreign nationals mostlyGermantourists and wounded 15 people after blowing himself up at a tourist spot in Istanbul’s old city.
