(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Language Centre at the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII) of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a member of Qatar Foundation, has extended its deadline for accepting applications for its spring 2016 programmes.
Registration for courses in various proficiency levels in Arabic, French, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese will remain open until tomorrow.
TII's Language Centre seeks to turn its students to lifelong learners, providing quality language instruction in the classroom, as well as opportunities to take learning into the community.
Previous years, students have been invited to attend events with the Chinese ambassador, and travelled with their class to Grenada, Spain, and to Tours, France, where they were given the chance to live with local families.
Asaad Kahlout, director of TII's Language Centre, explained: "Our classes tend to be quite diverse with students beginning their study from different backgrounds, motivated by a multitude of reasons and with varying levels of understanding of the target culture. In order to drive class participation and engagement, teachers often assign group work and encourage students to support the learning of their classmates."
The courses take place twice a week and are conveniently timed to suit the schedules of both those who work during the day and those who would rather keep their evenings free.
Morning sessions are available at 9am € 10:30am or 11am€ 12:30pm and evening sessions are available from 5 pm to 6:30pm or 7pm € 8:30pm. Students are also granted access to TII's state-of-the-art labs to supplement textbook study and practise active listening.
