UAE- FNC Speaker receives Speaker of Jordanian Senate

ABU DHABI 12th January 2016 (WAM)The Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi received today at the FNC General Secretariat in Dubai Faisal Faiz the Speaker of Jordanian Senate who congratulated Dr. Al Qubaisi on her election as the FNC speaker becoming the first Arab woman to lead a parliament in the Middle East.
During the meeting attended by Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei Secretary-General of the FNC Dr. Al Qubaisi and Faiz discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern. They also tackled parliamentary ties and exchange of visits between the FNC and the Senate with emphasis on setting up the parliamentary friendship committee.
The two sides stressed the strengthening of co-operation in the parliamentary political cultural educational and economic and investment areas.
Dr. Al Qubaisi commended the fraternal ties between the UAE and Jordan led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan respectively.
She said the UAE has clear attitudes towards tackling extremism and counter-terrorism noting that the laws have been enacted to eradicate all the attempts by the extremists to hijack the Islamic religion with the aim to terrorise people.
The two officials stressed the importance of international co-operation to contain serious threats posed by the terrorism and extremism on the world and its people adding that the terrorism has no borders and poses a threat to innocent people worldwide. They called for a need to set up an Arab strategy to deal with the critical issues especially counter-terrorism and interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
They urged parliaments to revamp the role of the foreign policy of Arab countries regarding Iranian interference in the Arab region in general and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in particular.
Faiz referred to Jordan's counter-terrorism effort and attempts to ward off charges of terrorism on Islam. He added that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism and that the Oman Message focusses on the themes of Islam in terms of moderation and tolerance. The message was launched couple of years ago by the King of Jordan.
The Jordanian official invited Dr. Al Qubaisi to visit Jordan.
