Morocco- Moroccan Woman Declared Dead Wakes up Minutes Before Her Burial

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) On January 9 a Moroccan woman woke up minutes before she was buried in Berrechid 41 kilometers south of Casablanca.

Before the burial the woman was declared dead by a forensic doctor but later it was found she was actually in a coma.

The victim’s husband told 2M TV that his wife had suffered from a brain disease and a forensic doctor conducted medical tests to check her condition declaring her dead.

“We called forensic doctor to come and check her. She came and did a medical check then she told us the woman had died” Nabil's husband said.

After she was declared dead the first time authorities had given the woman's family a death certificate to start the funeral and burial process.

While the family of the woman commenced the burial ritual Fatima’s body started moving in front of her family members.

Family members said they were shocked to see that she was still alive. They later found out that she was not dead but had suffer a coma due to her brain disease according to 2M TV.

Dr. Abdelouahab Hbbari told 2M TV that Nabil's first death assessment was based on medical tests she underwent.

“The doctor who tested the woman said she did all medical check ups including heart beats eye check up tweaking (…) and said all her senses were not reacting” Hbbari said.

Many Moroccans who commented on this case said the woman could have been saved had she been treated by a 'more mindful professional and competent medical staff.'

Before the incident the woman had been under medical surveillance in a private hospital in Casablanca due to a brain disease.

She was then transported to her family home by request of her doctor who said her disease had no medical treatment.

Upon her arrival home Fatima was mistakenly declared dead based on the medical tests she underwent.

After the incident Nabil was placed on intensive care at the regional medical hospital in Settat. She was declared dead less than 48 hours after she was transferred to the hospital.

Nabil's family is outraged by the incident and blames the doctor's irresponsibility for the event.

'What happened is a scandal and a disgrace. They absolutely must take their responsibility for what just happened” the deceased woman's husband was quoted by Moroccan website Febrayer.com as saying.
