Japan, US, S. Korea to Discuss N. Korea Nuclear Test

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo January 12 (QNA) - Japan's Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said his country will host vice foreign ministerial talks with the United States and South Korea on Saturday in Tokyo aiming to coordinate their policy over North Korea.

Kishida told reporters on Tuesday that prior to the talks senior officials from the three countries in charge of relations with North Korea will get together in Seoul on Wednesday. He said he expects that close policy coordination among the three countries following the latest North Korea's nuclear test will be confirmed in the course of the talks Japan's (NHK WORLD) radio quoted.

Kishida also said the Japanese government will carefully consider how to step up its own sanctions against the North by monitoring North Korea's reactions and developments in the international community.

Referring to a flight by a US B-52 bomber over South Korea on Sunday Kishida said he believes the move is a demonstration of America's strong commitment to peace and stability in Northeast Asia. (QNA)
