Qatar- UN Envoy for Yemen Arrives in Sana'a


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Sana'a January 10 (QNA) - The UN envoy for Yemen Esmail Ould Shaikh Ahmed arrived Sunday in Sana'a a part of his efforts to gather Houthis and Yemen's government in coming peace talks.
Local media quoted Ahmed as saying "We have come to Sana'a to put in further efforts with all those concerned in order go on a new round of talks." The UN Envoy earlier met in Riyadh with representatives of the legitimate Yemeni government for the same purpose.
A Yemeni government source said that Esmail Ould Shaikh Ahmed suggested Geneva as the venue for the coming round of talks.
The Yemeni government insist on having UN resolution 2216 as the basis for any future talks in addition to releasing all prisoner detained by Houthi group and lifting the siege on the city of Taiz the source added. (QNA)
