Qatar- GCC Secretary General Discusses Yemen Crisis with UN Official

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Riyadh January 09 (QNA) - GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdul Latif Al Zayani met Saturday with U.N. Secretary-General Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

They discussed the UN efforts for holding a third round of political talks between the parties involved in the crisis in Yemen. They also discussed the humanitarian efforts made to deliver aid to the people of Yemen.

The GCC Secretary-General stressed on the importance of UN Security Council resolution no. 2216 and said that pursuing a political solution in Yemen should be based on the GCC initiative. He also called on increasing the humanitarian aid in Yemen particularly in the city of Taiz due to the deterioration of humanitarian conditions there. (QNA)
