Pakistan stresses adherence to principle of non interference


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD Jan 8 (KUNA) -- Pakistan on Friday underlined the necessity of respecting international norms and adherence to the principle of non-interference in others' internal affairs.The Pakistani Foreign Office said in a statement that Pakistan expressed deep concern at the escalation of the situation between Saudi Arabia and Iran and condemned the burning down of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran.The remark comes as Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir is on a two-day visit to Pakistan.During his visit the Saudi Foreign Minister met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Sharif's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and briefed them on the recent situation in the Kingdom's relations with Iran.Sharif affirmed that the people of Pakistan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Saudi Arabia against any threat to its territorial integrity and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia.He called for the resolution of differences between Riyadh and Tehran through peaceful means in the larger interest of the Muslim unity in this challenging time.The Prime Minister said Pakistan welcomes Saudi Arabia's initiative of Islamic coalition against terrorism reiterating Pakistan's support to all such regional and international efforts to counter terrorism and extremism.
