Quake jolts parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD Jan 8 (KUNA) -- A 5.9 magnitude earthquake shocked several parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan including federal capital Islamabad on Friday.According to reports the epicenter of the earthquake was located in Hindu Kush Mountain Region the border areas of Afghanistan and Tajikistan at a depth of 232 kilometers.The tremors were felt in several parts of Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Gilgit Baltistan Punjab province tribal belt and federal capital Islamabad. This is the 4th moderate level earthquake that struck Pakistan and Afghanistan since December last year. No loss of life was reported so far but the tremors spread a wave of fear in the masses.Early in October a 7.2 magnitude earthquake jolted major cities of Pakistan and Afghanistan that killed around 350 people and injured over 3000 people.
