Saudi- Social media calls for boycott of Iran goods

(MENAFN- Arab News) DAMMAM: Saudis on social networks have given a call for the boycott of Iranian products which they have identified as starting with the number 626 on barcodes.

This comes in the wake of Saudi Arabia severing diplomatic ties with Iran after the attacks on its missions in that country.
Economists and businesspeople believe that Iran's economy will take a big hit because its exports will be affected.
Khalid Al-Odhaibi an economic expert said there has already been a decline in trade between the two countries. If the boycott is maintained the Saudi economy would not be affected. He said the Kingdom's imports from Iran include various items worth SR500 million.
Businessman Salman Al-Jishi said: 'Saudi imports from Iran are extremely small and can be made up from neighboring countries.' He said the Kingdom is a major market for Iranian investments passing through Dubai with information technology and computer spare parts being the most important.
Fahd Al-Ghamdi a businessman said a boycott would see the Iranian currency weaken on global markets. Small Iranian investors would also likely be affected in a major way. The Kingdom would not be affected because it can import goods from Malaysia South Korea and other Asian countries.
Abdulaziz Al-Sareea a member of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry's industrial committee said the Kingdom only imports a small quantity of Iranian carpets and depends mostly on local products.
Citizen Falah Al-Awfi wrote on Twitter that Iran must be hit economically while another citizen said that the boycott should be followed by further isolation.
