Advancements in Portable Emergency Power Options Are Evolving

(MENAFNEditorial)

Emergency power options within the preparedness industry are constantly evolving.

From gas generators and deep cycle batteries to wind and solar there are more and more options to generate power for use in an emergency. For those that need mobility the problem traditionally has been the bulk and weight of such systems but even that seems to be improving with the introduction of a product that is almost on the market.

Recently we’ve met with Inergy Solar a company who has been working in residential solar and they are creating a line of solar panels and batteries that are a fraction of the weight of traditional battery systems.

The most exciting of which is the Kodiak an off grid home solar system in a box which they are currently highlighting in an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign.

The Kodiak is an 1100 watt Lithium Ion battery generator that weighs in at 20 lbs.

A similar product which we carry that is already out in the market is the Goal Zero Yeti.

imagesThe Goal Zero beast pumps out 1250 watt of power with its lead acid battery but it weighs 103 lbs.

The Kodiak outputs similar power but at 1/5th the weight and about 1/3 the size making it a far more mobile option.

We field a lot of questions regarding these types of large emergency batteries.

People want to know what devices they can power and for how long. Both of these products would comfortably run a LED TV for 16 hours or a CPAP machine for 25 hours.

They could run a typical refrigerator for 33 hours. One great option is that you can “daisy chain” the batteries to additional units to double or triple your power.

Inergy likens their newer light weight battery technology to what Tesla is currently using in their electric cars and in their upcoming Powerwall solar home generation kits. By using lithium ion battery tecnology instead of the older more traditional lead acid types Inergy can shave a significant amount of weight from their battery packs.

Durability consistency and performance remain the same but it can be packaged in a far lighter and smaller product.

As technology continues to advance the preparedness industry will continue to improve its solutions to its customers and this is a very exciting thing that everyone can look forward to.

We are excited to offer Inergy Solars product line at the Ready Store in the coming weeks stay tuned for details such as availability and pricing.
