Regional developments discussed between Oman, Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MUSCAT Jan 7 (KUNA) -- Oman's minister in charge of foreign affairs Yousef Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah received on Thursday his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari discussing bilateral relations the official Omani News Agency said.Discussions between the two sides dealt with means of boosting mutual cooperation in various sectors in addition to exchanging views on regional issues and latest developments according to the news agency.Al-Jaafari has arrived in the Sultanate on a short visit.There was no further official word regarding the topics that were examined during the meeting.However there have been reports suggesting that Iraq and Oman may exert mediation efforts between Saudi Arabia and Iran to try resolve the political crisis that has resulted in severing diplomatic relations.
