US opposed to N. Korea becoming nuclear state- Kerry

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON Jan 6 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State John Kerry said Wednesday that the United States and nations around the world have unequivocally condemned North Korea's latest nuclear test."As I am reiterating today in conversations with my counterparts overseas the US is committed to defending the American people and honoring our security commitments to our allies in the region. "We do not and will not accept North Korea as a nuclear armed state and actions such as this latest test only strengthen our resolve" he said in a statement. "This highly provocative act poses a grave threat to international peace and security and blatantly violates multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions" Kerry stressed. He called on the North Korea to end these "provocations and choose a better path" claiming that "North Korea will only achieve the security and development it claims to seek by living up to its international obligations and commitments." Pyongyang announced yesterday that it has successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb underground a claim that was described as inconsistent with data surveyed in the area spokesperson of the US government announced earlier today.
