Qatar Open golf to start from tomorrow

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Amateur golfers will have plenty to play for when the 30th edition of the Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship is held at the Doha Golf Club from tomorrow, organisers said yesterday.
The three-day event will see about 126 golfers taking part, of which 11 are Qatari. The winner of the event and the two best Qatari players will get to play the prestigious Qatar Masters later this month.
About 33 countries are represented in the tournament, which will be played on stroke play basis with the top 60 players advancing to the third and final round on Saturday, Qatar Golf Association Secretary General Fahad Nasser al-Naimi told journalists.
Last year, Jakub Hrinda of Slovakia became one of the youngest players in European Tour history when the 14-year-old featured in the Qatar Masters following his victory in the Qatar Open amateur tournament.
