Morocco- Royal Air Maroc Pilots Boycott In flight Meals

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Pilots of Morocco's national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced that they have decided to boycott the inflight meals served to them by Atlas Servair.

On Monday hundreds of RAM pilots got together at the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots (AMPL) to boycott the food provided during RAM flights by Atlas Servair according to a statement by the AMPL's office reported by Le360 news website.

The AMPL represents the majority of the 400 pilots employed by the government-owned Moroccan national carrier.

According to the statement RAM pilots are 'not satisfied with the meal choices or the quantities of the food served to them.'

Pilots pointed out during the meeting “the clear deterioration in the quality of services of the PEQ provided meals and the unilateral decision of Atlas Servair to change the terms of the agreement in terms of quantity and choice”.

Dissatisfied with their inflight dinners pilots have opted for an 'alternative' until further notice. They will be placing food orders in advance for oversea flights the same source revealed.

Limited reactions have been registered by the parties involved in the pilots' demands.

RAM has declined to comment on the pilots' decision to boycott Atlas Servair.

When questioned by Le360 about the pilot's decision an airline official said that 'pilots sometimes appear too demanding'

According to the same source RAM holds 60 percent ownership of Atlas Servair. The inflight catering company signed a partnership agreement with Royal Air Maroc to run its on-board meal service.

In February 2013 Atlas Servair the world's third largest operator in the aircraft catering services industry acquired 40 percent of the shares of Atlas Catering Airlines Services (ACAS) which had served RAM completely until then.

In Morocco Atlas Servair employs 750 people and owns three units based in Casablanca Marrakesh and Agadir. It produces up to 35000 aircraft meals per day for 20 different airlines including RAM.

RAM passengers have not commented on the pilots' decision nor on the quality of the food served to them by the same catering company.
