20 million tourists visited Russia last year- PM
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW Jan 5 (KUNA) -- A total of 20 million foreign tourists have visited Russia last year Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev said on Tuesday.In a statement to state television Medvedev said that Russia has tremendous touristic potential that needs to be developed which would bolster the tourism sector in the country.Moreover in an unprecedented figure the number of domestic tourists in the country last year amounted to 50 million people Medvedev noted.The sprawling cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg along with the Black Sea resort of Sochi are major getaways for foreign holidaymakers while Russians tend to flock to the country's resorts for a sense of serenity away from the hustle and bustle of major cities.
