Kuwait delivers foodstuff to cyclone hit Yemenis

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Jan 5 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has handed out 2000 food packages to the people of Yemen's cyclone-hit Socotra Island.This humanitarian aid which was donated by Kuwaiti people has been distributed in the Yemeni island in collaboration with local civil society organizations KRCS Deputy Chairman Anwar Al-Hasawi said to KUNA on Tuesday.By so doing the KRCS is seeking to ease out the reflections of recent bad weather conditions that have caused serious damage to houses in the affected area he added.Kuwait's humanitarian and relief aid to Yemeni people come upon directives from the country's political leadership the KRCS official boasted.Over 7000 houses have been wholly or partially damaged and up to 1000 families have been displaced due to the hurricane that hit Socotra Island.
