Ukraine's city Henichesk confirms receipt of gas supplies from Russia
(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The authorities of the southern Ukrainian city of Henichesk confirmed on Tuesday the city started to receive natural gas from Russia's Crimea.
On Saturday pressure on Henichesk's municipal pipeline fell critically amid severe frosts and the gas pressure was not enough to properly heat the apartments of almost 2000 residents.
"The natural gas reverse has started to flow from the Crimea to Henichesk" first deputy head of the city's regional administration Alexander Syshchenko told the Noviy Vizit portal.
On Monday the Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin based on "humanitarian considerations" instructed to elaborate the possibility of gas supplies to Henichesk to help the city's residents survive in the cold. Later that day Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that Russia started supplying Henichesk with natural gas.
Meanwhile Andriy Kobolev head of Ukraine’s national gas company Naftogaz said early Tuesday that reports about the Russian gas deliveries to Henichesk were "fake."
Ukraine halted purchases of Russian gas last year saying that the pricing offered by Moscow higher than the European partners would offer.
