QPMC Signs Four New Contracts to Supply Gabbro, Limestone


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) signed four new contracts for supplying 19.98 million tons of primary materials including (Gabbro and limestone) to Qatar over the next three years from various sources.

The four contracts which signed with The Gate Primary Materials, Continental Trading Company, Qatar Engineering Alliance Co. and Al Baida Technical Services come as part of QPMC's plans to diversify supply sources to secure the necessary raw materials for public and private sectors in Qatar. The actual implementation of the contract to begin at beginning of this year.

This diversity will contribute to the revitalization of the role of the most important economic sectors in Qatar and will achieve sustainable development that ensures the provision of all the required quantities, as well as the stability of prices of primary materials in the local market.

The materials will be stored in QPMC-owned facilities in Lusail, Mesaieed and Ras Laffan. This will ensure the availability of these materials in the north, the south and the capital city of Doha to meet the needs of all construction sites in the country and to satisfy customers of contractors and users of primary materials from government and private sectors.

QPMC said that Continental Trading will provide the primary materials from the Sultanate of Oman, and the other two companies of Al Baida and Qatar Engineering Alliance will provide the agreed quantities from the same source, while Al Bawaba Primary Materials Company will provide the contracted quantity from the United Arab Emirates.

The CEO of QPMC Eisa Al-Hammadi said that the amount which will be supplied to the four companies will be imported from Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates through private Qatari companies.

He added that QPMC works tirelessly to provide a continuous stream of primary materials to all construction companies based in Qatar. Asa a result, QPMC looks to diversify its sources, Al Hammadi added.

The agreements were signed by Chairman of Qatar Engineering Alliance Co. Dr. Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Chairman of Continental Trading Company HE Sheikh Fahad Bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Al Baida Engineer Ali Al Mesned and Chairman of The Gate (Al Bawaba) Primary Materials Abdullah Al Hail.

QPMC was established in 2006 on the instruction of the Qatari Government to provide Efficient Port Service at the Gabbro berths and develop it.)
