Arab Parliament blasts Iran for blatant interference in Saudi affairs

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO Jan 3 (KUNA) -- The Arab Parliament a committee of lawmakers from Arab League states denounced Iran's "blatant interference" in Saudi Arabia's affairs after recent comments made by Tehran in response to Riyadh's execution of several people on terror-related charges. In a statement on Sunday its speaker Ahmad Al-Jarwan described the comments as "hostile and provocative" as they "assisted in inciting an attack on Saudi diplomatic missions." Iran bears "full responsibility" for the dual attacks carried out by groups of protesters on Saudi Arabia's diplomatic missions in Tehran and Mashhad respectively which he described as "barbaric." "Iranian authorities are fully responsible for these terrorist acts in respect of the country's obligation to the 1961 Vienna Convention (on Diplomatic Relations) and international law which force countries to ensure the protection of diplomatic missions" he said."These actions do not serve peace in the region and run counter to the principles of good neighbourliness" said Al-Jarwan. "They instead aggravate situations and ignite them further." Al-Jarwan went to underline the Arab Parliament's firm stance in support of Saudi Arabia and the "decisions it makes to tackle terrorism in all its forms and to pursue and present to justice those responsible for terrorist acts and inciting sedition."
