Iraq committed to protecting Saudi diplomatic mission- Al Jubair


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH Jan 3 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubair said Sunday night that the Iraqi government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the safety of Saudi diplomatic mission in Baghdad.
"We have contacted the Iraqi government regarding the safety of our diplomatic mission and they promised to do their utmost to protect the mission pursuant to the relevant international laws" the minister said at a press conference.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia takes very seriously all recent threats to its missions abroad and notified the UN Security Council of the Iranian aggressions on the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad" he pointed out.
"Washington was also told of the impartiality of the Saudi judiciary and the rejection of any interference in our domestic affairs" Al-Jubair said.
The Kingdom which stood firm against the Iranian political and military interferences in Yemen will continue opposing any foreign interferences in the affairs of Arab countries he vowed.
Al-Jubair made the comments after announcing a decision to sever ties with Iran in the wake of mob attacks on the Saudi diplomatic mission in the country. (end) od.gb
