Turkish coast guard rescues 57 stranded refugees


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Istanbul Rabi'I 23 1437 January 03 2016 SPA -- The Turkish coast guard has rescued 57 refugees who
were stranded on a small island off the Turkish coastal resort of
Dikili as they tried to reach Greece state news agency Anadolu
reported on Sunday according to dpa.

Twelve of the group including three children were airlifted off the
island in a helicopter. The remainder were taken to the Turkish
mainland in fishing boats as larger ships could not manoeuvre along
the rocky shoreline.
