Iraqi army deters IS attack near Ramadi- statement
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD Jan 2 (KUNA) -- Iraqi army backed by coalition aerial support managed to deter an IS attack near Ramadi said an army statement Saturday.The IS militants driving 10 vehicles packed with explosives targeted the Iraqi army's 10th Division base northeast of Ramadi capital city of Anbar Governorate it added.The statement failed to disclose timing and date of the attack.The extremist group seized the provincial capital last May; a setback for the Iraqi government and the US-led coalition backing Iraqi forces.
