Iran to become Pakistan's top energy source

(MENAFN) Iran is expected to export a total of 3,000MW of electricity to Pakistan, thus making it a top energy source for its western neighbor, based on recent reports.

Additionally, Pakistan currently imports 74 MW of electricity from Iran for its coastal Makran division, and this number will be increased to 100 MW this month.

The two nations are in the process of finalizing the deal for the construction of phase-1 of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, where a pipeline will be laid from Gwadar to Nawabshah.

Moreover, in the 2nd phase, Pakistan will work on the 80-km sector of the pipeline joining it to the Iranian border, plus this phase will depend on lifting of sanctions on Iran.
