Dubai is keen to make itself investors' most favourite city and enhance the UAE's ranking in the World Bank's 'Ease of doing business' report.

In this regard the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai has added 37 more activities to its list of permitted businesses in Dubai.

The decision to raise the number of activities from 2088 to 2125 is part of the DED's efforts to facilitate commercial activity and business expansion in Dubai and the UAE in general.

The move follows studies conducted by the business registration and licensing (BRL) sector in the DED and feedback from traders and licence owners.

Walid Abdul Malik director of registration in BRL said: "We have added new activities to the list of licences after a series of studies and opinion polls were conducted among more than 150 businessmen and investors over four months. The activities added will help meet current and future needs of licence owners and businesses and complement the demand and supply situation in the local market."

Abdul Malik added that the DED's goal is to support growth in vital sectors thus raising investor confidence and Dubai's overall competitiveness.

"We will continue to evaluate market requirements and discuss opportunities to add new activities in retail trade as well as the manufacturing and service sectors. We aspire to raise Dubai's standing as the place to do business and enhance the UAE's ranking in the 'Doing Business' report of the World Bank."

Abdul Malik said 35 per cent of the new activities licensed cover industrial and retail sectors such as power supply devices and systems textiles and textile products dietary supplements drone operations diesel trade classic cars used car exports general wholesale trade solar energy equipment rentals marine protection tools and barriers and rescue operations and equipment.
