Iraqi Speaker calls on international support to restore country

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Dr. Salim Abdullah Al-Jabouri urged international community to support Iraq in restoring liberated cities that were under the control of the so called Islamic State (IS).Al-Jabouri said IS not only did it destroy cities but also inflicted societal damage that is beyond the Iraqi government's capabilities to restore on its own; hence he called on the importance to obtaining international support.Military leaders will determine when and how to retrieve Nineveh Governorate from Ism he said calling on politicians and tribe leaders to cooperate in order to achieve comprehensive reconciliation.He pointed out that the phase that follows the war against IS "will not be easy."
