Putin endorses new Russian National Security Strategy


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW Dec 31 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed an Executive Order to approve the updated National Security Strategy.In a statement on its website the Russian Presidency said that the strategy is a key document that establishes national interests and strategic national priorities of the Russian Federation.The new strategy stipulates that retaining Russian nuclear arsenal is "necessary for deterrence." "The use of military force to protect the national interests is only possible if all taken non-violent measures turned out to be inefficient" says the document posted on the official website of legal information.It warned that the practice of supplanting legitimate political regimes is getting an ever bigger spread across the world."Alongside with the remaining sources of tensions in the Middle East Africa South Asia and the Korean Peninsula new hotbeds of tensions are emerging and the zones out of control of the authorities of any nations."The zones of armed conflicts are turning into basis for the spread of terrorism inter-ethnic carnage religious strife and other manifestations of terrorism" the document said."The arrival of a terrorist organization that declared itself to be an Islamic State and the swelling of its influence resulted from the policy of double standards which some nations abide by in the sphere of fighting with terrorism."
