PKK members arrested over New Year's Eve plot in Turkey


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkish anti-terror police have arrested eight suspected PKK terrorists in the capital Ankara a security source said Thursday accusing them of planning a New Year’s Eve attack.

The source who spoke on condition of anonymity did not specify the nature of the alleged planned attack.

Among those arrested on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism two wereunder18 the source said. Three suspects have appeared in court and were remanded in custody while three others were released. Two are still being held by police.

The arrests took place on Wednesday and Thursday in the Ankara area.

PKK is considered a terrorist organization by Turkey the U.S. and the EU. More than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred since the group resumed its armed campaign in late July.
