(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco was ranked the second most popular African destination for the super-rich according to a recent study by New World Wealth published by Forbes.
With roughly 4000 multi-millionaires visiting the country in 2015 Morocco was the second best African destination for the super-wealthy only behind South Africa. New World Wealth a Johannesburg-based research firm that provides information on the global wealth sector describes 'multi-millionaires' as individuals with net assets of US $10 million or more. According to the study titled 'Millionaire Tourism in Africa' around 43000 multi-millionaires visited Africa in the 12 months prior to September 2015. The study revealed that the most desirable destinations chosen by the super-rich within Morocco are Marrakech and Casablanca. South Africa was the most popular African destination with about 11000 multi-millionaires visiting the country followed by Morocco Botswana (3000) Kenya (3000) Seychelles (3000) Egypt (2000) Mauritius (2000) Uganda (1000) Zambia (1000) Mozambique (1000) and Nigeria (1000). The survey also disclosed the 'top 10' preferred hotels in Africa for 2015. Two famous Moroccan hotels made it to the list. 'La Mamounia' in Marrakech topped the list followed by the '12 Apostles Hotel & Spa' in Cape Town South Africa. The 'Royal Mansour' also in Marrakech ranked third most favorable African hotel accommodation for multi-millionaires. last September 'La Mamounia' was ranked the 'world's best hotel' by the U.K. travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller’s annual reader poll. Displaying Moroccan style complete with intricate patterns and arabesques based on Berber and Arab-Andalusian architecture 'La Mamounia' is set in royal gardens styled with Moorish opulence with 209 rooms (including 71 suites) gardens a spa with hammams (Moroccan traditional bath) and three Riads. Last October the 'Royal Mansour' was named 'best hotel in Africa' at the ceremony awards 'Prix Villegiature 2015' in Paris. Opened in 2008 the Royal Mansour has no rooms. However guests have their own individual three story riad (traditional Moroccan house with interior gardens) mixing traditional Moroccan beauty with all Western luxuries.
