Oman- MoAF building 1420m wall to protect Wadi al Maawel farms from floods

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) is constructing a wall to protect agricultural land in Mesalmat village in the wilayat of Wadi al Maawel in South Batinah governorate.

The project worth RO233000 aims to protect farms along the wadis against flooding. Eng Nabil bin Hassan al Bahrani director of irrigation and agricultural lands department in MoAF said the project will check land degradation and protect crops especially date palms.

He added that the 1420m wall will protect 120 acres of farm land. Eng Mohammed bin Hamoud al Owaisi head of land protection walls department at MoAF said that the project is using stones available in the region.
