Info Min. commends Kuwaiti fencer Tareq Al Qallaf's achievments


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Information Minister Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah extolled on Tuesday international achievements of Kuwaiti fencer Tareq Al-Qallaf.This came during the minister's reception of Al-Qallaf on the occasion of the latter's winning of three gold medals at an international fencing championship for the disabled in Virginia US last October.According to a ministry statement Sheikh Salman who doubles as minister of state for youth affairs conveyed during the reception keenness of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the political leadership on supporting the youth especially in sport.Al-Qallaf's last achievement brought his tally of medals to over 160. He is rated as the world's top seed by the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) and the US Fencing Association.Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah then received social and psychological adviser Eman Al-Khaldi where he lauded her book 'Idhaat' (Glimpses) which aims at driving the young to work hard.Sheikh Salman added the statement also received Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic to Kuwait Zhusup Sharipov. He also received Palestinian Ambassador to the country Rami Tahboub.Bilateral media cultural and youth-related relations were discussed during both receptions.The minister then received Kuwait's new UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Zineb Touimi-Benjelloun where bilateral relations were discussed.Benjelloun during the reception voiced her appreciation to the support provided by the State of Kuwait to the UNDP and other UN agencies.
