Morocco- American Man Charged for Threatening to Kill Muslim Store Clerk

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) An American man has been charged with disorderly conduct for verbally attacking and threatening to kill a Muslim convenience store clerk on December 24 in Rhode Island.
Thomas Giese 37 was arrested after surveillance cameras captured him in an anti-Muslim rant that included life threats and hate speech against a Muslim store clerk in South Kingston Target 12 news reported.
Although Giese was allegedly not charged with a 'hate crime' he was charged with a misdemeanordisorderly conductand a civil violation for possession of marijuana.
The video uploaded by the same source showed the drunk man yelling at the Muslim victim around 9:30 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve. 'I'll (expletive deleted) kill you peopleOn Christmas Eve!' Giese is heard screaming. 'If you call the cops' the attacker said adding 'What I'm going to do to you is stretch your tongue out on you (expletive deleted) Muslim.' 'You pieces of (expletive deleted) are going to die on my hand' Giese continued. According to the police arrest report Giese said he was 'filled with spirits' that prompted him to act against the store clerk. He also admitted during police interrogation that he had consumed alcohol 'approximately 10 drinks' at a restaurant across the street from the Ravi Food Mart where the altercation occurred. Giese was 'flipping out' he told police when the store employee did not help him find a taxi. According to the clerk's report Giese told him 'you should know where to find a cab because you are Muslim.' Following the racist remarks the store clerk called the police which further enraged Giese who continued his verbal assault screaming at such a high volume that his words exceeded the recording's audio capacity. 'We don't want Muslim stores in our neighborhood. No Muslim stores in our neighborhood' Giese yelled. According to police report the suspect tried to justify his anti-Muslim rant by saying that he was thinking of the 9/11 terrorist attacks before he entered the convenience store. He claimed that ''this upset him because he allegedly had friends who worked there.' He told the police that the store clerk 'was a Muslim and that he does not belong in this country' without further details. Target 12 investigators visited the suspect's home but were unable to talk to him. However the incident was not considered a 'hate crime' although Rhode Island law defines a hate crime as 'any crime motivated by bigotry and bias including but not limited to threatened attempted or completed acts that appear after investigation to have been motivated by racial religious ethnic sexual orientation gender or disability prejudice.'
